I spent most of my time in the Tahoe area; but also spent some time in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Muir Woods. This trip also marked the beginning of my fall training. I had hoped to start a little earlier, but the two weeks prior to my trip I spent sick. So, I was only able to get a total of five training runs in prior to my running the VHTRC Women's Trail Half Marathon. Although I have to admit, those five runs were awesome, and nothing kicks your ass and gets you in shape better than running at 9000 ft. I got a couple of runs in the Tahoe RIm Trail, but my favorite run was from Mt. Tamalpias to Stinson Beach.
This weekend I finished my second official trail race. I had a great run. I ran the 13 miles in exactly what I had hoped I would, 2:30. I found the course to be fairly hilly. Nothing terrible steep or long, but there did not seem to be a whole lot of flat. (Go ahead Bryon you can laugh.) I don't really have much else to say about the race, but I am ready for another. Any suggestions?Gretchenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15882832798772321808noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3873929740877967040.post-17838398236156327042007-07-10T03:44:00.000-07:002008-12-09T03:16:06.580-08:00The Lazy Days of Summer<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKu8UsletZDFEIFVHRAdfuN-KekucG1LOCUvVkY5opkZJ8Qohl25-RyU9lkTsSE1yNfPq_HeTdD0jpHxSLdBmW4FxU8GRBynwxsQYCx-OCP2nuQxPK_AQk2d_HiI6Hq6rGZLxv5cWm2Wpe/s320/956174883110_0_BG.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5085520480747888946" />
So, I have to admit I have not been running as much as I want to or should be. My busy work schedule has now slowed down, so I have no excuses. Also, I have signed up for VHTRC women's half marathon in September for incentive.
This weekend I had a great time on the Delaware River. My friends and I enjoyed our annual tubing trip. I also got try out a kayak for the first time. It's awesome! I think I need to ask for one for Christmas. I mean seriously what am I thinking about running for when it is 100 degrees out. I should be out enjoying the river I live less than a mile from.Gretchenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15882832798772321808noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3873929740877967040.post-18100651252708740832007-03-21T04:58:00.000-07:002008-12-09T03:16:06.812-08:00Gore-tex Sneaks!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBD_2kbMbT8aw54QMkQK83uGcxrVHkyhdUdHBFRufp_J5IumzyzN3GOtNpuRdx0hjgGqXinMEv8wMzcMU0PkWH314z9OG1trket7xcsruchyw08hpk_ms7e6zUMFOgMA-W4bDSI6qegpUX/s200/GL1110_451_l.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5044352165192925650" />
Monday I had a really nice run in the park. My first trail run where the trails were completely snow covered. I wore the ice runners again, they helped with traction, but the really cool thing was wearing Gore-tex shoes. After hearing numerous reviews on Gore-tex shoes being rain buckets I was skeptical to buy a pair. My friend Lauren did however purchase a pair that turned out to be too small, so I inherited them. Now that I have run through slushy snow and snow melt and maintained dry feet I am sold. Thanks Lauren for passing on your sneaks!Gretchenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15882832798772321808noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3873929740877967040.post-76553439091915065712007-03-18T17:21:00.000-07:002008-12-09T03:16:06.931-08:00Ice Runner<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl4j9qnZ8S8ydDo6mC4jhpwXWXFR7LL7rwPku3fFoaNxnGGiewwmbPfvcZJoGesnyWiQ6GMzRobKrpgNsO3jV3SxMhNgAiKEU8yK9thCUt2vwPWNMKJ0ig6_uQ1Zealo2j5N635Og0hjJe/s200/P1010109.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5043428687849166082" />
That's right I ran for the first time in my ice runners today, and it was
so fun! i would highly recommend this product, I think they actually go by the name stabilicers. I ran for about an
hour on some packed ice and some slushy ice. I had no problems with
slippage and the grippers did not fall off! The path I ran on this morning was pretty flat, if the ice is still hard
tomorrow I will try the ice runners on some hills in the park.Gretchenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15882832798772321808noreply@blogger.com2
